'Roses on a Fence'

My husband had some health issues that have kept me away from my easel but now I'm back. I was out walking and passed this fence with these beautiful roses and a blooming plant under them and just had to paint it. Hope you like it.

'Private Drive'

Here is my newest. We were out to my daughter, Cindy and Ken's house and when we turned into their drive, I just had to paint it. I loved the sun and shadows on the narrow drive and on the vegetation. The truck was really green so I took some artistic license and made it red.

'Sunlit Pool'

Well, I finally finished it. With all the rocks and shadows, getting all the values correct took some time. But here it is. Scraped my knee getting down to this area but it was well worth it.

'Nature Walk'

It was finally sunny and I was able to get back up to the Tumwater Canyon. So some more paintings will be coming soon. I am posting this one that I did last fall and had not yet put on my blog.

I have been asked by several people 'How do I start a painting?' So I thought it might be interesting to my viewers to show them how I do my paintings. First I start with a pencil drawing which I then go over the lines with thinned down paint in a burnt sienna color. (Yes I know what all those squiggles line mean!)

Then the mid-tones are worked. The lightest whites and yellows are saved until last. The finished piece can be seen below called "Tumwater Canyon"
